Other Killifish Species
The other killfish species that I currently have in my fishroom (March 2017) are,
Chromaphyosemion volcanum Ekondo Titi CB3SR07/21
Epiplatys ansorgei Massana GJS 00/02
Rivulus xiphidius Crique Boulanger
Scriptaphyosemion schmitti Jurazon
Scripaphyosemion guinardi Mamou
Chromaphyosemion volcanum Ekondo Titi CB3SR07/21
Epiplatys ansorgei Massana GJS 00/02
Rivulus xiphidius Crique Boulanger
Scriptaphyosemion schmitti Jurazon
Scripaphyosemion guinardi Mamou
As of February 2020, I have lost the following species from the fishroom.
Epiplatys ansorgei Massana GJS 00/02 as I lost one fry after another until none were left, so never got them to the adult stage. No idea what was wrong, but that sometimes happens in the tropical fish hobby, or to me at least.
Rivulus xiphidius Crique Boulanger, as these were raised to adulthood and lives reasonably long lives (2-3 years) but never managed to get any eggs after trying many alternatives that various people suggested that had worked well for them.
Scriptaphyosemion schmitti Jurazon. I have had 2-3 pairs of this species at various times and failed to get eggs from any of them, which is surprising as I have had reasonable success with other species of Scripts.
So my current list is,
Chromaphyosemion volcanum Ekondo Titi CB3SR07/21 - have had these since June 2015. Nearly lost these at one stage as fry stopped appearing in the main tank, but the numbers have now recovered and I have collected quite a few eggs recently.
Scripaphyosemion guinardi Mamou - lots of fish available, even after giving away a few pairs to new BKA members recently. Also collected a few eggs as a safeguard but normally sufficient fry survive in the main tank with the adults to maintain the species.
Scriptaphyosemion cauveti Kindia - a number of pairs being kept but very few eggs at the moment.
Scriptaphyosemion geryi "Ufule" GBMR 08-08 - just a pair from the BKA Convention, but no eggs so far.
Poropanchax luxophthalmus luxophthalmus Afanji BCP 18-13, - 12 young fish that I have reared from eggs and these are now in my planted tank and look very nice as a small shoal which hopefully will increase in number throughout the year,
Aphanius mento Zengen, - a trio from the 2019 BKA Convention but unfortunately have lost the male, so will be looking for replacements come spring.
